After a very productive (for Clyde) and holiday-like (for Johanna) stay out in Western Province we came back to Ukarumpa all refreshed. We were planning to write an up-date to all of you, but this has to wait. Instead we would like you to pray for friends of ours whose house burnt down last Thursday. These past days we have been helping as much as we can, and will do so for the next few days. Please pray for the family (see statement below). The couple is now in Brisbane where the husband is cared for in a specialised burn clinic.
Thank you very much for praying for this family and friends here and in their home country!
PUBLIC STATEMENT from Thursday, March, 25)
This morning (Thursday 25 March) a fire broke out in the house of one of the members of SIL-PNG, likely caused by an electrical fault. The fire gutted the house, destroying many personal belongings. The limited
Fire Services that SIL has did manage to put the fire out, with the structure still standing. However, the husband received significant burn injuries and was medevaced (medivaced) to Cairns, Australia, accompanied by his wife. One of the two sons has a minor burn and is being cared for by medical staff and friends at Ukarumpa.
Please pray for physical and emotional healing for the family and friends. Please uphold the community in prayer. A number of stressful things (other medevacs and security incidents) have been happening lately.
