Today we received an update on the family which sounded very encouraging. Here is a condensed version of the email:
April 2: We have had a truly wonderful day! This morning, our two older children arrived in Brisbane ! Soooo good to see them! Together we could all go to see their father. We got a very positive report from the burn specialists: The burns (feet, legs, hands and arms) and skin grafts, which were done this week, are healing nicely. The physiotherapists started with exercises for his arms today as well.
Tomorrow the burn specialists will change the dressings on his back, and after that, the ICU staff will try to slowly wean him of the sedatives - it may take up to 2 days. Please pray that this process will be a smooth one, and that they find the right ratio for cutting down on the sedatives for him to come out of sedation easily and nicely. As soon as he is fully back, they can take out the breathing tube (he already takes spontaneous breath here and there) and he will be moved to the burns ward.
As a family (including our friend Kathy, who came and helped me stay sane by taking care of many things that I simply could not have got done without her!) we spent the afternoon with a small young church. It was very relaxing and very beautiful, almost like a botanical garden!
We are so grateful to the Lord for the good report today! Praise him with us!
